Readers, let’s give a warm welcome to indie author Adam Mitchell.
Adam is a self-employed cartoonist and illustrator, who is also a former soldier. [Thank you for your service! I’m a big supporter of military veterans all over the world!] Adam lives in Shropshire in the United Kingdom with his wife and beautiful two-year-old daughter, Holly. Adam Mitchell is also dyslexic, and because of that, he’s big into supporting other authors who have similar problems being taken seriously due to this condition. [Since chemotherapy, I seem to have a touch of this myself; I often find myself switching letters in a word, like mane instead of name. There are a wide variety of conditions lumped under the term ‘dyslexia’.]
Adam is currently working on the sequel to his first novel, The Lost Angel, which he hopes to have available in November of 2016. He says he got the idea from his local church, and he wondered if he could carry a basic Christian theme in a different way. So, he took his idea and blended it with a crime novella. Adam says in this way he “…could do it, without ramming it [Christian message] down their [readers’] throats.” He also utilized some of the well-ingrained stereotypes while writing The Lost Angel.
About The Lost Angel: “Eddy Kovakx robs the Lost Angel, central city’s newest night club, owned by Victor Renetti. Pulling off the job was the easy part. Now on the run with his partner’s broad, the sultry Kimmie Saint Clair, he also has an unstoppable PI on his case. Jack Malone is in hot pursuit thanks to the sadistic mobster Victor, putting a price on his head. Can Eddy and Kimmie get away with the money and their life. Or will Jack Malone get his mark. Danger, mystery, and adventure in the noir thriller. (Taken from Amazon’s listing.)”
When asked about the process of writing The Lost Angel, Adam Mitchell says, “The first version of the book was rushed…I was a rookie writer and ploughed through… …like a bull in a china shop. It was March of this year when I… …revised it, ironing out all the wrinkles.” He laughs. “There were a lot.” [I can relate to this, as my first novel was probably wrought with errors as well!] Adam tells us the theme of his novel is a redemption story. He hopes readers are drawn to his unique Noir feel, as if they’ve suddenly found a sub-genre they’ve been missing all along. Adam hopes his readers can say of his work, ‘That wasn’t all that bad,’ and he quips, “That’s one more sale closer to my boat.”
There is a sequel to The Lost Angel in the works, which Adam is currently writing longhand on paper. [Ah, some of us do still enjoy the feel of real paper and a pen or pencil!] This second novel will explore in more depth the city introduced in The Lost Angel. All in all, it’s going to be four separate stories woven together over the course of just a couple night. The characters from each story will make an appearance in each subplot.
