Back Text of Clash of Times: The Quest:
Young Susan finds herself moved far away from her childhood home, and betrothed to the prince of a neighboring kingdom. She vows to hate her new husband, but when they are young adults, an unstoppable force destroys their homes and families, and he is the only one she can turn to.
Prince Joseph fell in love with her the moment their eyes met. But her prickly attitude tells him that he will have to work hard to win her affections. And when circumstances out of his control throws them together, he would give his own blood to keep her safe.
Together, are they strong enough to defeat the most unlikely of foes, and free the people of the Western Empire from slavery? Or will they simply vanish into the hourglass of time, two small grains of sand lost forever in history?

Some Reviews of Once Upon a Western Way
By Book Reader September 18, 2014 4*
Imagine a world wherein it is required that you spend so many hours a day on the Internet? It’s normal, everybody does it, and doesn’t think anything is weird because computers are such an fundamental part of life. They even cook and clean for you. This is the world that begins Once Upon a Western Way. But, it is far from what the story is about.
Two young friends, Sarah and James, accidentally discover an ancient diary. The diary contains the love story of Susan and Joseph, during a time before computers, before automobiles! They are desperately devoted, a couple swept up by circumstances that threaten their lives together. Be prepared to be surprised, I won’t give away the ending. Not a life changing story, not earth shattering … but a very pleasant read. Just under 220 pages, this is a break out novel for Marguerite Madden and is available in Kindle and paperback on Amazon.

This was an interesting novel that highlighted the dangers of letting anyone else do your thinking for you. The blend of past and present, fantasy and sci-fi, was really interesting and not something I’ve seen done in quite this way before. If you enjoy distopian fiction, especially with computers run amok, you’ll like this story.

A beautifully written fantasy, which flows along at a steady pace.
A wonderful blend of past and futuristic, with likeable characters and a great twist at the end.
If you’re looking for love, romance, passion and courage… it’s all here.

An interesting and unique story, mixing kings and AI’s, swords and bio-weapons. Two young adults’ betrothal was destined for many things, not all of them good. Susan embodies an average young adult, sometimes doing the opposite of what she’s told. Joseph is like you would envision a night in shining armor to be, chivalrous and strong. A must read for those looking for a good story.

“Well, it’s an interesting read”
This novel had me questioning the plot and story’s structure from the very beginning. I was often confused and unsure what the story was about with it’s odd mix of future and past. Once I finally got a grasp on where the setting was it made the main characters more enjoyable/relatable but made it all the more disconcerting that it was little children reading it. I liked the ideas presented in the novel, I just don’t think they were written well.
The narrator, Sally Downing, was superb. She had the perfect reading voice and her tempo was spot on. I even enjoyed her choice of vocal nuances in the novel. I look forward to listening to more of her work.
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
