Metamorph Publishing is proud to offer professional publishing services at a low cost to independent authors!
We are a small press publisher with a twist! We offer two ways for authors to publish.
The first method is like full traditional publishing services, but we don’t offer advances. Instead, we’ll work with authors on every stage of the publishing journey, from transcription (if needed) to the end result: your book being published. This is a good method for those who aren’t too computer savvy, and who want to just write and leave everything else up to the professionals. We’ll control the pricing and promotions of your book (with your approval and help, of course), and even pay royalties every quarter. For this method, we will require 10% royalties to go to the business (with one exception–Google we will require 5%), and the rest will go to the author four times a year.
Our second method offered is professional self-publishing. We’ll take your manuscript through the same process and you will set up (or allow us to set up initially) accounts at the retailers of your choice. Once your accounts are set up, you’ll give us your login information and let us upload your finished manuscripts. Once the process is completed, you are free to change your login information. However, if you update your manuscript in any way, we’ll have to know your login in order to complete the work. With this method, you’ll be the one who has to handle all the day-to-day details of your book and its progress.
With both methods, we are happy to accept payment plans, allowing you to pay for services as you can. Scroll down to learn more.
At this time, we offer consultations for professional publishing services such as transcribing from hand-written manuscripts, proofreading, editing, formatting for both print and e-book formats, audio book production, cover design, and publishing through various e-book retailers and Print On Demand distributors. The cost of professional publishing services services will, of course, depend on what a particular manuscript needs in order to become publishable. Cover art will vary depending on the intricacy of the design and availability of stock photos. Below you will find a brief terms of service and price estimate. Publishing services come with ISBN numbers and Library of Congress PCN number (print books) free of charge. To schedule a consultation for professional publishing services or for more information, please use the contact form at the bottom of the page. To learn more about our staff, visit About Us. Or come find us on Facebook!
Because of National Novel Writing Month and the holidays, during the months of November and December, we do not accept submissions or take on any new work, whether from established or new clients. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Fantastic and professional service. Markie is a pleasure to work with and I'm thrilled with the formatting of my paperback. I will definitely be a returning customer!
I'm totally pleased with the services offered by Metamorph Publishing. I really wanted my book published, but I had no idea how to do it on my own. We went from finished manuscript to finished book in a short period of time, and they worked with me every step of the way. My cover looks gorgeous, and the scene dividing graphics are awesome, too. Kudos!
I used Metamorph Publishing for formatting of my latest work. The service was great, very quick, and the finished product, superb. Dealing with them was very easy, and they were really helpful.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, and would happily use them again.
I have recently had Metamorph Publishing do some formatting for my books. I was thrilled with the results. My books look awesome and the service I received was second to none. There was a quick turn around and they were in constant contact with me making sure I was happy with everything they did. They were so helpful and supportive that I went back with my new book and also requested a copy edit.I wasn’t disappointed, again, the formatting was excellent, and I was very happy with what they chose for me and how they presented it. The copy editing and constant contact made me feel important as a customer.Being an Indie author is not easy going it alone, and I did for quite a while. The formatting and editing is sometimes best left to a professional, but finding one that is reasonably priced and good to work with can be a task. Therefore, I thought I would post this review and highly recommend Metamorph Publishing for anyone who is looking for a little help and support.
Metamorph Publishing did an amazing job, from transcribing my hand-written book to finding a cover artist to build the perfect book cover. They constantly updated me on the progress, and their pay-as-you-go program really makes it easy for independent authors to get professional services. My book and cover look great, and I'm really pleased. In fact, I'm getting ready to submit the sequel and have Metamorph Publishing do full services on that one as well! Highly recommend their services!
Metamorph Publishing took my collection of poetry and turned it into a gorgeous book, both for e-books and print. The book looks fantastic and I adore the little graphics they added to the end of each poem. Highly recommend their services and will be returning when I'm ready to publish again.
I came to Metamorph Publishing to have them publish my pagan reference book. I knew it would be difficult, as I had included many different types of symbols and graphics. They worked hard and managed to get all my images in the book, and it looks gorgeous! I have cloud access to all my files should I ever need them, and the pay by steps completed process makes it easy for authors just starting out to afford these professional type services. Nice job, and I will recommend them to anyone looking to publish!
Check out a beautifully formatted title called Blood Master (Book I of the G.O.D.s Series) by author Kirsten Campbell! She’s just one of our happy, satisfied customers! Check out her award-winning book on Amazon and use the “Look Inside” feature! Kirsten is extremely impressed with her book’s new look.
And here’s a link to another book formatted by Metamorph Publishing, Heckled by Valarie Kinney. Check out this Smashwords version on your Nook, iPhone, or Kobo device! And check out Dark Lycan by Barbara Chioffi, another satisfied client!
List of Services
Metamorph Publishing charges $4.00 per hour for transcribing a manuscript from handwritten or typed notes into a digital word processor. I can usually do about 2,000 words an hour, so the rate will depend on how many words (estimated) the manuscript will be. Payment for this step is due in full before we move on to the next step.
Proofreading and Editing Services
Metamorph Publishing offers professional proofreading and editing services. Proofreading looks for spelling or typographical errors, and minor punctuation issues. Editing can include simple restructuring of sentences to major re-working of tense. For these services, we require the author to send the first 5,000 words (or about a chapter) to us for evaluation. After this sampling has been evaluated, an estimate of cost will be provided to the author. When the proofreading or editing process is done, an invoice of charges will be sent to the author. Metamorph Publishing will hold the edited manuscript until payment is made. Payment is due in full before moving on to the next step.
For formatting of a manuscript already edited and proofread, we charge a one-time fee of $70 for simple and $100 for complex manuscripts. With this, you will get a digital copy of the manuscript in several formats: .epub, .mobi (both for e-books), and a MS Word .doc suitable for uploading to all the major retailers. Once the formatting and testing phase is done, we charge a fee of $10 for re-formatting (such as for a new edition, updated information, etc.). Payment for this step is due before moving on.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison of a document unformatted, and then formatted. Screenshot is from a MS Word document, but the formatting will translate to the e-book format files as well.
Below is a screenshot from the Kindle smartphone app, showing the formatting translated into a .mobi (Kindle) file type. The formatting appears identical in the Nook smartphone app.
Also formatted by Metamorph Publishing: Rubies from the Heart by Cynthia Ruby, Heckled and Just Hold On by Valarie Kinney (Smashwords, Nook, iPhone, Kobo formatting), Blood Master (Book I of the G.O.D.s Series) by Kirsten Campbell, and Witchopedia : An A to Z Book of Shadows by Naddya Foxfire.
If you’d like to take a closer look at our formatting portfolio, you can download it free of charge in MS Word .docx, MS Word (97-2003) .doc, or PDF readable by most tablet and laptop readers.

Here is another example of print book formatting. Since e-book readers have their own font defaults, this formatting would not show up in the e-book, but will in the paperback copies.
Cover Art Services
These services will vary by book cover, depending on the intricacies of the cover and the availability of stock photos. Generally, e-book covers will be around $20, but a closer estimate will be discussed once the terms of the cover is discussed. Full, print-quality book covers will range about $30, again depending on what is necessary for the cover. Payment is due before the author receives the high-resolution cover image.
Examples of book covers:
This service includes full publishing through all the major retailers, at a cost of $100. ISBN numbers as well as Library of Congress PCN number (for print books) will be provided free of charge. The author will be responsible for setting up accounts at Kindle Direct Publishing, Smashwords, Google Partner Center, and Createspace. We recommend using a generic password when first setting up these accounts. The author will provide Metamorph Publishing with the user names and passwords for all retailers, and give us permission to access your accounts for the purpose of uploading, testing, and getting your title set up. Once the manuscript is uploaded and approved by the author, we will make certain the book is published and available. At that time, the author should then change the passwords used on these accounts. Keep in mind, for future needs, we may request the author’s passwords again to fix any issues that may come up. Once the book is live and published, we will provide the author with links to retailers where the book is available. Payment will be due before the book actually goes live or for pre-order.
For those authors who will not have access to a computer, we will publish and maintain the author’s book(s) under our own accounts but published under the author’s name. We will collect and pay royalties every quarter (February, May, August, and November—schedule subject to change depending upon retailer Smashwords). When Metamorph Publishing collects and pays out royalties, Metamorph Publishing will collect 10% (5% from Google royalties) of the royalty payment before remitting payment to the author.
Metamorph Publishing reserves the right to market the author’s book as “published by Metamorph Publishing”, and to use your book cover, title, and/or excerpts for marketing purposes (to promote your book). We may use this information on our website, our Facebook page, and any other social media platform. There is no charge for this. We will also notify the author if we find places to advertise the book at a good price, but the author will be responsible for any fees incurred by the website if they choose to advertise with them. The terms “published by Metamorph Publishing” must remain in your files in the appropriate section of the copyright page.
The author will retain full rights to their manuscript, and be entitled to the full royalties allotted to them via each retailer (make certain to read the terms of service for each retailer when you start your account with them). The author retains full pricing rights (meaning you can set the price, and change that price, at any time), however, we do ask for a notification if you are changing the price so we can change it accordingly in our own marketing advertisements. You may choose to withdraw your book from publication at any time, again, with a notification to us at least 3 days before you do so.
Any other issue that may arise during the course of our business involvement, will be brought to the author’s attention and discussed before any additional fees are incurred. If, at any time before the manuscript is published, the author wishes to withdraw from publishing with us, we do require payment of any fees owed to us. At the time of payment, we will return the manuscript to the author, plus any work done on the manuscript prior to withdrawing (editing, proofreading, etc.). The author must submit in writing a letter to withdraw, at which time Metamorph Publishing will send out an invoice of payment owed for services done.
